Comfort at sea rests on safety. No Aymarin vessel starts the season until it meets the standards below.
Pre-season survey
In April every vessel is inspected by an independent marine surveyor for machinery, electrics, life-saving and fire equipment. The report is kept in the vessel file and shown to any guest on request.
Mandatory equipment
- A life jacket for every guest plus child-sized jackets
- Life rafts, an EPIRB distress beacon and a VHF radio
- Fire extinguishers and an automatic engine-room suppression system
- A first-aid kit and a weather-forecast subscription updated on every sailing
Insurance
Hull and machinery cover, third-party liability and passenger accident insurance are included in the charter fee. Guests' personal belongings and health cover on routes leaving Turkish waters are excluded; we recommend separate travel insurance.
Crew qualifications
Our captains hold at least twelve years of licence history and our deckhands hold life-saving and first-aid certificates. Training is renewed every March.
Sailing decisions
If forecasts show wind of Beaufort 6 or more, the captain may halt the cruise. The decision is shared with the guests along with the weather report.
Emergency procedure
The emergency plan is posted in the cabins of every boat. The check-in briefing shows how to wear a life jacket, the evacuation points and radio use. Our operations centre listens to VHF channel 16 around the clock and coordinates with the Coast Guard when needed. A list of nearby hospitals and pharmacies is kept in the captain's log for every route.
